Peace Care St. Joseph’s annual Generations Luncheon was held on October 1, 2017 at the Liberty House Restaurant in Jersey City. The fundraising event directly benefits programs and services for Peace Care St. Joseph’s elderly residents.
This year’s Luncheon was emceed by entertainer Joe Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo has appeared on many television shows throughout his career; his most famous role was as a regular cast member on Saturday Night Live throughout the 1980s. He has acted in Hollywood productions alongside big names like Danny Devito and Michael Keaton. Currently, Mr. Piscopo hosts his own morning radio show on AM 970 which airs from 6 to 10 AM every weekday.
Peace Care St. Joseph’s recognized the Dante Alighieri Society and Ladies Auxiliary of the Dante Alighieri Society for its long-standing commitment to the community. Founded in 1909, the Dante Alighieri Society and Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Dante Alighieri Society is a local Italian-American organization focused on promoting the Italian language and culture. Their wine club each year makes their own award winning wines, they participate in city-wide Italian cultural events and hold fundraising efforts throughout the year for local organizations. Accepting the award for the Dante was Jersey City Councilman and Dante member, Richard Boggiano.
Also recognized at the Luncheon was community member Thomas Schember. Commissioned as an officer in the US Army, Mr. Schember served for 23 years in the Army Reserves, and retired as a colonel. Following his military service, Mr. Schember was president of Franciscan Health System and Chief Operating Officer of Comprehensive Habilitation Services. He has served on the boards of numerous organizations – Holy Name Hospital, the Jersey City Economic Development Corporation, the New Jersey Hospital Association, and the National Catholic Health Association, among many others.

Jersey City Council President Rolando Lavarro, Jr. also attended the Luncheon.
The 2017 Luncheon was led by Peace Care St. Joseph’s Circle of Friends Committee: Event Chairs, Bernadette Hoehl and Phyllis Liguori and members, Frances Aragona, Sr. Cabrini Delaney, CSJP, Dolores DeMaio, Paul Kaplan, Melissa Hull, Lois Shaw, Thomas Sheehy, Jr., Jeanette Tracy and Helena Truglio.
