Black history means to me Freedom. We are free to live as we wish; to do this or do that. Remembering those that went before us and made a way for us. From slavery, now you work, you get paid; and if we live right, we can do and become whatever we want. Dr. King, Rosa Parks, Frederick Douglass and many more blacks that went before us, didn’t give up. So now we don’t have to give up and our children don’t have to give up. Black power is powerful! – Ms. Bertha
Black history means to me, we’ve come a long way, but we still have a ways to go. We recognize our forefathers and the ones that paved the way for us. I feel it is very important that we continue to teach our children of color the real facts of our black history. If we do that, it will continue to be quite a history, full of power! – George
The history of our forefathers and mothers who paved the way for all black people is what Black history means to me. Everyday is Black history though, because each day we continue to make history! Now we can do and live for our families and not slave for nothing. I think it is time overdue, we no longer have to just dream. We can live our dreams and create a life for ourselves, our families and our village. It is now, how God always meant it to be, we’re free! Free at last. We are strong people! – Ms. Rebecca
