Dear Members of the Peace Care St. Ann’s Family,
As I am writing this Christmas letter to you I ask myself, “What does Christmas mean to me?” Christmas is a season for giving and a time for caring, so I believe. I went around and asked staff, residents, families and visitors the same question. I would like to share some of their responses with you.
Christmas means to me:
Time with Family, The Birth of Jesus Christ, Love, Time and Service, Warmth, Sharing, Giving and Receiving, Remembering the ones that are no longer with us, Celebration of Life, Reflection and Hope.
These common responses resonate with many of us. This year at Peace Care St. Ann’s we have shared many experiences in various events with residents, families, and friends. Some of the events have derived from the collaboration of residents and staff. The Resident Council has become a successful meeting of the minds; the residents lead and plan many of the activities and educational programs that enrich their quality of life. Their wish to reach out to the people in our community has developed a strong relationship with our neighbors. Among the events held include: a Health Fair with thirty-plus participating vendors which was well-attended by our Greenville community and a 6-week Sign Language course for staff and residents to assist communication with residents who are not able to speak. Their most recent request is to hold a Novena for Peace with an extended invitation to staff, St. Paul’s parishioners and family members.
Through these events, the camaraderie among our residents, staff and volunteers is what drives the mission of our organization. We are very proud of the work that has been accomplished throughout the year including maintaining an overall 5-Star Quality Facility Rating by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid based on quality measures, staff and services provided to the residents.
We hope that you support Peace Care St. Ann’s fundraising Christmas appeal and purchase a Star in honor or in memory of a special person in your life. Your Star will be displayed on the Peace Care St. Ann’s Christmas Tree located in our lobby.
As always, thank you for your generosity and continued support. I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!
Peace,
Janet Merly-Liranzo
