April 3, 2020 (as of 5:00 p.m.)
Peace Care remains vigilant in following our preparedness plan and making necessary updates in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services, and the New Jersey Department of Health. Our Peace Care leadership team continues to meet throughout the day and remains in regular contact with the CDC, CMS, NJDOH, and government officials and are adapting our protocols accordingly.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE FUND
The COVID-19 crisis is wreaking havoc in our communities and around the world. While we continue to provide exceptional care to our residents and patients, our staff and our funds are being stretched like never before. Many have asked, “How can we help?” If you are interested in providing assistance, please consider the following ways you can assist us:
- Make a contribution to the Peace Care Emergency Response Fund.
- Donate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Donate non-perishable goods and baby wipes.
For more information, please visit our Become a Donor page or contact mmount@peacecarenj.org.
Thank you in advance for supporting Peace Care’s efforts to keep our residents, patients, staff, and community protected.
VISITOR RESTRICTIONS
Visitation is restricted until further notice.
All staff, necessary medical personnel, and essential vendors continue to be admitted only after an extensive screening, that includes temperature checks and evaluation for signs or symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat. All employees must utilize a mask when interacting with residents as an added layer of protection for those entrusted to our care.
Hospice & Palliative Care visiting is on a case-by-case basis. Scheduled days and times will be provided to a family member. Call Peace Care St. Ann’s at 201.433.0950 or Peace Care St. Joseph’s at 201.653.8300 for questions specific to your loved ones.
At this time, doctors will continue to visit patients as needed. Traveling to medical appointments is not recommended, but will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
ACTIVITIES
In accordance with CDC and CMS guidelines, we have stopped all large group activities, including daily Mass. Our staff continues to implement activities that meet the “social distancing” recommendations. We continually seek new and innovative ways to encourage impactful, positive interaction between our residents and staff. Our staff is doing an amazing job and working around the clock to support our residents, patients, and each other.
Social Distancing Bingo remains a favorite activity among our residents. We are also enjoying ring tosses, Hallway Zumba, puzzles, and other activities.
Be sure to check out our Facebook pages: Peace Care, Peace Care St. Ann’s, and Peace Care St. Joseph’s.
COMMUNICATIONS
We understand that communicating with your loved one is incredibly important and strongly encourage you to communicate with them via telephone, video chat, email, or social media. We have secured iPads for virtual visits with loved ones at both campuses via Google Hangout, Google Duo, and FaceTime.
Photos from some of our virtual visits are posted on our Facebook pages.
Operational updates will continue to be provided on our website and via email. If you wish to be added to the distribution list, email mmount@peacecarenj.org.
Responsible parties have been contacted regarding updates on their loved ones. As always, if there is a change in a resident’s condition, our nursing staff will notify the responsible party as soon as possible.
CARE PACKAGES
It is strongly recommended that you do not deliver any care packages or other items to either Peace Care facility. Any deliveries are subject to additional screening. If your loved one must have an item, it is recommended that you send it via the U.S. Postal mail.
We are so grateful and appreciative to our sponsors, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, for the personalized letters and cards they sent to our residents and staff at Peace Care St. Ann’s and Peace Care St. Joseph’s to lift their spirits. Thank you! Thank You! Thank You!
