Peace Care St. Joseph’s is proud to welcome Volodymyr “Vlad” Mykhayliv as our new dietitian. Born and raised in the Ukarine, Vlad moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., 14 years ago. He attended Brooklyn College as both an undergraduate and graduate student. Vlad holds a Master’s Degree in Nutrition Science. Prior to joining our team, Vlad served as a dietitian for several skilled nursing facilities in Brooklyn.
Vlad strongly believes everything that you eat has an effect on your body. He advocates that everyone should be mindful of everything that you eat. His philosophy is to treat “food as medicine” and by taking a mindful approach to what you consume, you can decrease your risk of chronic diseases and be healthier overall. A vegan for the past 10 years, Vlad loves to make home cooked meals for his family. One day he hopes to write his own book on nutrition and possibly start his own business.
For anyone who is looking for ways to eat healthier, Vlad says the best thing to do is to read more and learn more because “it’s never too early learn.” He recommends www.NutritionFacts.org as a good source of nutrition-based research and listening to their podcasts. He also suggests watching nutritional videos if you are interested in learning more about nutrition and the science of food.
Vlad currently resides in New Jersey with his wife and their newborn child.
